Okay, so did you ever buy a remnant rolled up in one of those little bundles but you don't unroll it before you purchase it? I know, dumb. But I did. And, when I got home and opened it up, there was a flaw large enough that I could not cut two 18" pieces for a pillow. So I went to work on a plan, because now I don't want to drive all the way back to the store to return it. Well, I chopped it up into several pieces and created this great quarter turned design. I think it turned out really fun. Admittedly, it was a pain to make and took more time than it really should have, but, I like the result. This is outdoor canvas and it ended up being a 16" pillow. Shabby Chic Beach Pillow

This is a shabby chic beach applique pillow. The hand-cut and sewn letters are purposely rustic to give it this great comfy, cuddled look. The pillow is canvas with linen letters. Button Flower Pillows

I had just enough material to make two front pillow pieces for 16" square pillows. I purchased a solid fab for the back of the pillows. The piping is actually made from the dining room gold and red fabric. I thought it worked nicely to set them off. As a finishing touch, and because you just have to do something with scraps, I cut 6" circles, basted the edge and gathered to the middle to create these cute flowers. I then secured each with a 4-hole button and sewed them onto the pillows.

Pillow Experiment

Hello! It has been a while since I posted a project. I decided to take some of the scrap material I had left over from the Guest Room project and make a pillow. This is a 16x12 pillow. I made the matching piping, created the shirred inserts and added this fun fringe. I watched a video on You Tube on how to end the piping which was quite helpful. I made the shirred inserts by hand which would have been easier with shirring tape but I was trying not to have to buy much to complete this project. I also learned that you really need to add more than an inch to the final panels to surround the fullness of the pillow. I had added a 1/2" all around, but next time I'll know to add a bit more.
